Holiday Homes Tour - Hamilton, VA December 9th from 1-4!
Our historic Victorian home will be featured on the tour. Originally a log cabin, the house dates back before the date noted of 1920. The cabin was a summer and weekend home for the Rogers family who lived in Washington DC. The W&OD train comes right through Hamilton and ends in Purcellville. The Rogers family would come out on the train and live in their "country home" to get away from city life. With many additions, the home grew from a small cabin to a 5 bedroom, 3 full bath home with over 4100 square feet of living space. There is an enclosed double sleeping porch, vintage kitchen, living room and sitting room with double sided angle fireplaces. The living room and bedroom above have the turret as well as the walk up attic. The property sits on just under 3 fenced acres with a barn, chicken coop, smokehouse, in ground pool and detached 2 car garage. It is a continuing work in progress but we love the history and the joy that comes with restoring an old gem.
